Books 'n' Bloggers Reveal!

 Hello!

xXx

So my Books 'n' Bloggers swap gifts have arrived, and what treasures they are :)

My lovely swap partner, Jen from Fefferbooks, sent me three books.
Jellicoe Road was the one that she had read, herself, loved, and wanted to share. Judging by the review (don't worry, it doesn't give anything away!) she posted on her blog, it should be a great read. I don't always go for YA titles, (though I have read all the Twilight books of course!) but I believe life is for learning and opening your eyes to someone else way of thinking, this time through a book recommendation, is always interesting, so I'm looking forward to trying something a bit different :)

Wait Until Spring, Bandini was one of the books on my Goodreads wishlist. I have read John Fante's Ask The Dust and The Brotherhood Of The Grape, and utterly loved both, so it was a real treat to receive this! I think I've been reading the titles in the wrong order but hey ho! I love the 'grittiness' of Fante's writing. I love modern American classics in general, but there's something special about Fante- he is, in my opinion, the literary equivalent of a really cool under the radar indie band, made even cooler by their very being known and appreciated by only a few... I'm sounding precious now, but really, I would love Fante to become more mainstream, I want everybody to enjoy his writing, but somehow, it seems to me that relatively few people have heard of his works, or feel the way that I do about them. Am I wrong? Please do let me know if Fante is well known and loved in your circle of friends :)

Perfect Ruin was the book Jen sent me as it was something that interested her, but that she hadn't got round to reading yet. I have decided to begin with this one. I've only read the first few pages as yet, but I am already intrigued. Again, it's something quite out of my usual sphere of reading material, but I'm excited to be taken on a new journey and to hear some new ideas :)

Jen also slipped in a cute music themed bookmark (we'd been talking about our hobbies and I'd told her that I sing) with a quote from Plato, and some gorgeous Essie nail varnish in 'watermelon'- I'm wearing it already!

'Music gives a soul to the universe,
wings to the mind,
flight to the imagination,
and life to everything.' -Plato

Thank you sooo much, Jen. I truly love my gifts, I hope yours arrive safe and sound!
