It's been an awful long while since I made or shared any music, and today I finally got the opportunity to get something down for you all to listen to :)

Now I joke a lot and the general tone of my writing on here is short, light and to the point, the main emphasis being placed on the photos and the music I make. 

However, I thought It was now the right moment to open up and start trying to engage more with my readers, and I'm guessing you are a few, more than add up to just friend and friends of friends at least I guess from my page views, and that makes me very happy.

 See I'm smiling :)

I've been finding it difficult to decide what I really want this blog to be, so many ideas are running around in my creative brain box that I'm afraid if I included them all on here, it would just turn out a jumbled mish-mash of nonsense.

I knew this was how my mind worked when I created this blog- that I wouldn't easily be able to stick to one subject, and hence the 'Box of Various' being chosen as title; but now I feel it's time to calm down, take stock and knuckle down seriously to try to make this work.

It's great to see your page views increasing even if only slowly, but surely, each time I log into my dashboard,  yet I often yearn for a little feedback.

I'm guessing you like what you see, or else why are the page views increasing?

Accidental visitors perhaps? You're the best kind :)

What I'd love would be for you to leave a little feedback in the comments, if you can spare a moment or two, just to let me know you came and what you think.

I'm new to this game (well it's been a year I think but still...) and there's an awful lot I've yet to learn about blogging successfully.

Advice, kind words and even friendly criticism, will always be welcome here.

Polydor 2013 Mixtape

New Music!
(ok...and some not so new)

I recently had the opportunity to download Polydor's free new music mixtape for 2013
and thought I would share it here.
There are a couple of extra songs as well, that I threw in myself to make up the mix.

My favourites
Personally I really like You're Not Alone, I'm such a folky girl. Acoustic guitar all the way! Hudson Taylor has a really nice voice and the picking is really pretty :)

Amelia is nice too, the ghostly vocals are really my kind of thing, although the repetition of the guitar motif feels to me as though it ought to gain more depth as the song goes on.

Ok so I'm always going to like anything whatsoever Ellie-orientated and yes, this Anything Could Happen Remix is no exception. Just the fact it is an Ellie song. I am completely and utterly, 100% biased when it comes to her. This may have stated off a little too 'dancey' for my taste really, but the little sparkly bits are nice and as it goes on it becomes a really fun tune :)

Teleman's Christina was a tune my boyfriend introduced me too and even though it's not really my thing, the fact that he loves it, makes it totally worth sharing :) [There you go honey ;)]

It's Time has been given the typical Passion Pit production make over, I love the beginning and the verses, lovely :) The rhythm of the chorus strikes me of having been done before though and doesn't inspire me, over all though I like it, again I'm pretty biased when it comes to anything Passion Pit are involved with, have been ever since Sleepyhead.

I love Summer Camp and although Life isn't my favourite track of theirs-  it's a new one to me, having only just discovered it- I love their production style, her clear vocals and the unique chord sequences and melodies they come up with.

New Song

Hello There!

I've been working on a few new songs recently, for an Ep I'm making.

This is the latest one to be fully completed.

I don't have the most sophisticated recording equipment 

but I get by and any little 'imperfections' caused by the apparatus I think can add a bit of character. 

I sometimes find that things coming out a bit grainy or not exactly like I first imagined, works well; and I often end up doing something I never even thought of before, 

by accident, and it sounding great.
