It's Friday!!! + Passion For Fashion Link Up

Bonjour.

xXx

Haha! You weren't expecting that, were you? Well I'll explain.
As you may have noticed, I've been spending a bit of time recently, on giving my blog a bit of a face lift- a few touches here and there, to make it that little bit more 'me'. Well I've also been thinking along the same lines about content, and have decided that I would like to put my French skills to use and write regular bilingual posts. I've seen a couple of other bilingual blogs, and the idea just appeals to me a lot- what a great way to practise your language skills whilst, at the same time, reaching a wider audience :) I'll have to take some time getting the schedule all set up (I have grand ideas of a potential French language course for beginners too!) but for the time being I think it'd sound good to have 'French on Friday'... what do you think? Let me know your thoughts it the comments :)

But now, for the all important business of the wonderful, weekly Passion For Fashion link up (which also takes center stage of a Friday!)

This is an outfit I wore for lunch out with a friend the other day. I always feel very comfortable in skinny jeans and these black ones are my smartest pair. You can dress them, either up or down, just as easily. The top, my Beloved described as 'a bit trippy' the first time he saw it :) I love it for its effortless style- the way it falls and the feminine tie at the back. It really shows off the silhouette. The earrings were a 20th birthday present from my aforementioned Beloved, and I get complimented on them all the time due to their uniqueness!

Hope you all had a lovely Friday :)

A Festive Passion For Fashion

 Hello.

xXx

Apologies for the blurry photos, I took these in artificial light (!)
This is an outfit I put together last night for going out to a Christmas do with my parents. The dress is actually a summer dress that I got for my birthday back in the spring, so is quite thin and floaty, but I was going for black and white with red and gold accessories, and my only other black dress was a little too much I thought. It was fine coupled with a warm cardigan.

My nails are gold with a glittery red top coat, both drugstore varnishes.

I tend to find myself throwing on skinny jeans and a t-shirt most days for 'everyday' wear, but it's amazing how instantly feminine putting on a dress can make you feel, especially if you find a cut that really suits you.

I'm sure there will be plenty more opportunities to wear dresses during the festive season, I'm looking forward to it!

Happy Christmas preparations, I've been busy putting up the decorations today- getting into the spirit :)

Autumn-time Wishlist

Hello.

xXx

Here are a few of the things I've been eyeing up recenlty. Not dropping hints at all Father Christmas...

Autumn Wishlist

Concealer I could do with some decent but inexpensive concealer, and I was recommened Collection 2000. Brushes It's about time I invested in some proper make-up brushes, no more making do with pound shop rubbish! Yes I admit it... Boots I've been daydreaming about finally owning a pair of black ankle boots ever since I passed some up at a carboot sale recently, totally missed out there! Dress I'm just in love with anything fox-print at the moment. Vest How can you resist anything from Run With Perseverance? Running shirt/shoes I'll have anything that Ellie has...

Ok, I'll Let You In On A Little Secret...

Hello.

xXx

When I saw this on upworthy.com, which is an awesome site showcasing the the best in thought-provoking and worthwile videos from around the internet, I knew I had to share it with you; and it got me thinking of other ways that we can enjoy fashion whilst caring for the environment.

I'll let you into a secret: I rarely buy anything from the highstreet. Most of my clothes are thrifted, whether from charity shops, carboots, or jumbles sales (where, often the money is being raised for a good cause as well). By shopping this way not only are you giving new life to things no longer of use to others and therefore reducing waste and the need to buy so many new items, but you also come away with a lot more for your money! There's nothing like a good old carboot sale and coming home with bags full of goodies to customise, upcyle and restyle. Something to bear in mind whilst shopping second hand, is how awesome you can make that ordinary everyday item look when you get home!
Sometimes I'll be lucky enough to find just what I'm loking for too. Once I was in need of some new jeans and I was hoping I might find some skinnies at a local carboot sale. Lo and behold after a good look around I came across a pair of 'as new' black Lipsy skinnies. Exactly what I wanted! Oh, the thrill of finding, by chance, something that you had in mind before coming out!

xXx

Obviously, swapping and passing on clothes to friends and family is a good idea too but have you heard of Swishing? It's basically an organised way to swap clothes you no loger want, with friends. The general idea of a swishing party is for each guest to bring at least one item of clothing to swap, and then choose from the other items brought along, something new for themselves. You can find out more about it, and swish online here, or keep upto date with local swishing parties here.

So, however we do it, let's all try to make our own little individual efforts towards helping clean up our environment, and together all those little efforts will combine to make a positive impact.

What I Wore: Comfy Casuals

Hey Ho.

xXx

Well I reckon it's high time I gave you guys a peek into my current wardrobe- I haven't done an outfit post in ages! I thought I'd start off with this simple, casual outfit I put together the other day for visiting friends.
The t-shirt has a really cute vintage design print (to which I added a little cheeky DIY! ) and goes perfectly with my new red jeans, which I picked up in the sales a couple of weeks ago.
Throw on one of my favourite woolies to change up the colour scheme- who ever said pink doesn't go with red?- add a touch of gold for that casual/chic look, get my bag and I'm ready to go!

Florence's Jewellery

!!!!!!!!!!
Florence Welch has just unveiled her first capsule jewellery collection.
It's said that the art-deco style influenced collection has taken it's inspiration form her second album Ceremonials.

I DO NOT OWN THIS IMAGE Image copyright: Nath Owen (and blooming brilliant it is too!)

Well.
I must admit that at first, upon hearing the news through my inbox, I was a little taken aback.
I'm the kind of person who always initially has really strong opinions about 'how things should be' and then realises that actually [insert momentous event here] is a pretty cool idea ;)
So after inwardly giving up on fighting for 'what a proper, serious singer should and shouldn't do'  (I mean wouldn't I do the same given half the chance?) I came to my senses and realised that actually I should be spreading the news to all my fellow Florence fans, and that this was actually something I was interested in :)

What are your opinions? Is branching out, 'selling out'?
Does branching out necessarily mean greed?
And is it such a bad thing for it to be all about the money after all... (Hey Jessie J?)

Just for the record, I'm all for this ;)

Let me know your favourite pieces
(personally I like the cuff bracelet)
and
go check out her online store!
