Back On The Scene

Hey Hey.

xXx

It's been an awful long while since I made or shared any music, and today I finally got the opportunity to get something down for you all to listen to :)

First Aid Kit are my new obsession and so this was inevitable. Enjoy, and please feel free to like, share, download, if the mood so takes you!

Movie Club - Take 1

Hey Hey Peoples!
(can you hear me shouting that?)

;)
So, I'm going to start off this hastily thought up 'feature' with a couple of rom-coms we watched recently, and a brief opinion of each.
Let me know what you thought of these films or, if you haven't seen them, go and steal one from a friend and snuggle up with a bag of cookies, or a glass of wine (or hey, even both!) ... and then let me what you think ;)

Seeking a Friend for the End of the World

 5/5

A very engaging film, with huge atmosphere. Such a good idea for a story line. It was unsettling yet intriguing and I found myself imagining it was me in the situations playing out on screen- what would I do? how would I feel? and was consequently totally involved. Yes I even cried...
This is definitely one for the 'romantics' ;)
Perfect for a girly night in, or with your beloved.

Starring:
Kiera Knightly
(who you kind of have to like in this even if you don't usually, like meee...)
and...
That guy who was in The 40 Year Old Virgin
(actually I should probably get round to watching that too.)

Silver Linings Playbook

4/5

Quite similar in concept to 'Seeking a Friend', but with a completely different context. Engaging from the beginning and very entertaining.
If you like either one of these you will certainly like the other :)

Oh, and Robert De Niro is cool in this.

xXx

I will be back intermittently with other similarly wonderfully written reviews ;)

(There are far too many smileys going on here...)

Watching... 'The Village'

Hello Hello :)

'Well, have you been watching it? You know, that new series?'
'The gloomy depressing one on the BBC?'
'Yeah, with John Simm.'
'I Have'
'And..?'
'Like I said, it's gloomy and depressing...'
'But..?'
'But really good!'

xXx

This Northern drama set in the first world war is as grim as it is gripping. It plays intolerably with your emotions, plying them this way and that, drawing upon intense pity, heartache and melancholia to win its audience. And it works.
Portraying the most realistic view as possible, the series takes the form of a 'making of' documentary on the memoirs of the fictional, second oldest man in Britain.
His childhood and the day to day lives of all the other villagers around him are brought vividly to the screen, relived, by a fabulous cast of actors including John Simm, Maxine Peake and David Ryall. It's gritty, real and unforgiving. And that's exactly the reason it's so captivating.

Episode 4 will be aired on BBC One on Sunday 21st April 2013 at 21:00 BST.
You can catch-up on past episodes on the BBC iPlayer.

Have you been watching? What do you make of The Village? And what else is lighting-up your telly box this season?

THIS IS NOT A SPONSORED POST- (I just really love this series!)

Reading Again

Hey Ho :)

xXx

It's been a while since I had my nose in a good book. Recently I went to a car boot sale (it's got to be one of the best things about Saturdays and Bank Holidays!) and having successfully avoided buying more dresses- I reckon I'm now at that stage where I can legitimately claim to have 'too many' lucky me!- I came across a box full of classic literature and decided that a few volumes would be
a much more worthwhile investment.

(I stand corrected- my memory failed me terribly!
Jane Eyre is by Charlotte Bronte
Wuthering Heights is by Emily Bronte
tut, tut Heidi!)

The Saturday Tree Project

Woooo! A blog :D
I'm very excited to be taking my first steps into the 'blogosphere'. Today is a sunny day and I'm writing this lounging on my futon type thing (which is actually just an oblong cushion, and isn't actually mine!) Ha :)

So, let's get straight into it, I'm full of ideas so here goes!
Firstly, it being Saturday I should probably tell you about The Saturday Tree project. This is a photography project I'm undertaking, in order to track the transition from winter to spring. I have a certain favourite tree in the local park which is my subject, and I'm taking a picture of it each week, from different perspectives and angles, playing around, learning and having fun :)
You can see the first two weeks' pictures here: The Saturday Tree Project

And here are today's (3 weeks)

beautiful golden-red leaves

Anybody know what type of tree this is?

And the early morning dew on my shoes :)

Merry Saturday!
