A Game Of Tag

Hey There :)

xXx

Inspired by Danielle of Miss Ahoy's recent 10 Things You Don't Know... post, I've decided to start my own little game of tag.
I thought it might be a good way to get to know some of my fellow bloggers a little better and to give you a deeper insight into who I really am, so here goes

10 facts about me

1. My middle name is Virginia- after the midwife who helped deliver me.
2. I was born with jet black hair
3. I went to the Glastonbury festival when I was eight years old, and slept through David Bowie's set.
4. I've been home-schooled since the age of 13
5. I can speak French, and I'm currently learning Russian and Spanish.
6. I love Doctor Who, I even once made a model of K9 out of old boxes and cardboard (I should find it and put a picture up on here some day)
7. I cannot abide the smell of liver cooking
8. I love carboot and jumble sales
9. I've made friends with some people who didn't have a fixed abode
10. I'm an Assistant Cub Scout Leader

Et voila!
And now it's time for you to join in. I'd like to tag
Kari, from This, Too
Kacie, from Shy Girl, Loud Voice
And
Cj, from Above The River

You should check these lovely ladies out, and it'd also be cool to hear some interesting and little known facts about yourself, in the comments :)

Have a lovely weekend!

Movie Club - Take 1

Hey Hey Peoples!
(can you hear me shouting that?)

;)
So, I'm going to start off this hastily thought up 'feature' with a couple of rom-coms we watched recently, and a brief opinion of each.
Let me know what you thought of these films or, if you haven't seen them, go and steal one from a friend and snuggle up with a bag of cookies, or a glass of wine (or hey, even both!) ... and then let me what you think ;)

Seeking a Friend for the End of the World

 5/5

A very engaging film, with huge atmosphere. Such a good idea for a story line. It was unsettling yet intriguing and I found myself imagining it was me in the situations playing out on screen- what would I do? how would I feel? and was consequently totally involved. Yes I even cried...
This is definitely one for the 'romantics' ;)
Perfect for a girly night in, or with your beloved.

Starring:
Kiera Knightly
(who you kind of have to like in this even if you don't usually, like meee...)
and...
That guy who was in The 40 Year Old Virgin
(actually I should probably get round to watching that too.)

Silver Linings Playbook

4/5

Quite similar in concept to 'Seeking a Friend', but with a completely different context. Engaging from the beginning and very entertaining.
If you like either one of these you will certainly like the other :)

Oh, and Robert De Niro is cool in this.

I will be back intermittently with other similarly wonderfully written reviews ;)

(There are far too many smileys going on here...)

Reading Again

Hey Ho :)

xXx

It's been a while since I had my nose in a good book. Recently I went to a car boot sale (it's got to be one of the best things about Saturdays and Bank Holidays!) and having successfully avoided buying more dresses- I reckon I'm now at that stage where I can legitimately claim to have 'too many' lucky me!- I came across a box full of classic literature and decided that a few volumes would be
a much more worthwhile investment.

(I stand corrected- my memory failed me terribly!
Jane Eyre is by Charlotte Bronte
Wuthering Heights is by Emily Bronte
tut, tut Heidi!)

Friday's Poem and Other Stories

Good Evening :)

This post will be a bit of a 'hotch-botch' tonight, but hotch-botches are good things so it's all ok ;)
I thought I'd share with you a few pics of the donkeys I see sometimes on my morning 'walkies' with the dog, but I was only sufficiently pleased with one of said 'pics' to post it! I can assure you though, all three of them  (the donkeys that is) are adorable :) I've been in love with the creatures ever since I had a summer job helping with donkey rides at the seaside as a little girl.

Some other recent photos which came out half-decent-ish :)

this plucky little rose was in full bloom in December

The sun absolutely illuminating the town across the bay

I chose the best (in my own humble opinion) of my ever growing collection of 'inspiration-snaps' to post here tonight. The ones with the most atmosphere. Most of these weren't actually even taken with 'photography' as such, in mind, it was more a matter of 'oh that's pretty/ interesting/' and 'snap!' :) I'm especially fond of the silhouetted trees against that mucky-looking sky :)
'1' and '2' were taken this morning on a very windy morning stroll. The sun was shining so brightly, and then all of a sudden the wind whipped-up the clouds and it went all half grey-half golden, it was exciting :)
But to the crux of the matter and today's poem. Having almost completed my week, I think I've done ok. I was more pleased with some than I was with others but it's all experience and I have stuck to my deadlines (so far!) I couldn't keep it up much longer than a week at the moment I don't think, but it may well be something that reoccurs from time to time, we'll see :) Well here goes for this evening:

Tired This Evening

'Tired this evening,
Got nothing to say,
Not easy,
Thinking of new things each day.

Weary this evening,
Been doing so much,
Writing and snapping,
And singing and such.

Always got so many,
Things on the go,
It's the best way to live life,
I find, don't you know.

Making, creating,
My own 'show and tell',
And hopefully others,
Will like it as well.

But time to recharge,
As I put me to bed,
So many ideas,
Floating 'round in my head.

And tomorrow will dawn,
I will wake up and then,
I will start the whole journey,
All over again!'

But a girl's still gotta keep house! And even cleaning deserves to be photo-documented sometimes ;)

A Poem a Day

A poem a day
'A poem a day is a beautiful way,

To pass the time lingering between us,

Few words on a page, and I'll mean all I say,
For the words on the page will mean our love.

The pencil on paper, the ink pen on leaf,
Or most probably type on a screen,
But sure as it is,  albeit keyboard inks thief,
They'll be the prettiest letters you've seen.

So fret not nor pine for me, as I'll be right here,
In writing, each day, long as I might,
To love you oh and to comfort you dear,
Before you know, I'll be holding you tight.'

Hey there :)
So This week I thought I'd endeavour to write and post a poem each day, starting today, until Sunday.
Now I'm not professing to be much of a poet at all, but nevertheless, I'd like to practise and by way of posting a few littles ditties on here, I think I may improve. Besides it's fun!
The one above I wrote a few days ago and is a kind of introduction, and the one below I have written just today, enjoy :)

The Mountains are Beautiful Today
'The mountains are beautiful, through the mist and the haze,
Their golden- red hue in the distance,
The fresh air is humid,  in my early morn's daze,
But the mountains are beautiful today.

The sunshine's arriving, after a dull and dense start,

Brightening our afternoon's prospects,
As the day slowly wakes up, I return from the park,
And the days occupations begin.

Work starts today, it's all go, go, pay, pay,
But the mountains remind to keep clam,
And when duties abound, the time passes away,
Quicker than ever it did before.

And the mountains are beautiful today,
And the mountains are beautiful,
Today.'
